Congratulations to Officer Stamey and Dispatcher Christian Wilson, the recipients of the Bravo Zulu award. Your hard work and dedication make a real difference every day.

A heartfelt thank‑you to Chaplain Marlan Schoenleden for all his devoted service and support to our department. We truly appreciate everything you do.

John Gomes, who finally received his retirement badge. Thank you, John, for your years of commitment and service.

ā€œWhat is Bravo Zulu and where did this idea come from?ā€ Bravo Zulu is a phrase with roots in naval tradition. It comes from the phonetic alphabet used in ship-to-ship signal communications, where the flags for Bravo and Zulu displayed together meant ā€œWell Done.ā€ Over time, the term made its way into military and public service culture as a respected way to recognize exceptional work.

Anchorage Airport Fire Academy students reached a major milestone last week with a full‑day live fire training burn.

After training intensively since mid‑April, these recruits finally had the chance to put their skills, teamwork, and preparation to the test in a realistic, high‑heat environment. Their professionalism and determination were evident throughout the day, a true reflection of the outstanding instructors and support from the department.

This week, recruits will be completing their written tests and state practicals as they move into the final phase of their Fire Academy training.
