Know where your main electrical breaker is if you live in the glacial lake outburst flood evacuation zone. If you’re concerned water will come into your home, you can shut off power to help keep you safe.

With Su***de Basin now releasing, note that residents in the evacuation zone should be prepared for power outages during the flood event. Low-lying areas that are expected to flood, including View Drive and the campground, will be the first to be shut off. Other areas will be cut off from power depending on conditions. Rural Alaska communities: The registration window is open for AHFC’s Rural Professional Housing grant!

Rural Professional Housing funds support the development of rental housing in rural communities for teachers, healthcare workers and public safety staff.

Non-profits, state or local government entities, tribal entities, health corporations, school districts and public safety entities are eligible to apply for the competitive funding round.
