Your AHS Marching Band had a great day at the State Fair this past Wednesday!

While enjoying a fun day filled with everything the State Fair has to offer, the band received a II (Excellent) rating for their arena performance, and a I+ (Outstanding) rating for their parade performance.

We look forward to seeing you at kickoff and halftime tonight as we cheer on our Indian football team against Wellington!

For all the football fans making their trips to the Booth and the Bill this year, stick around for halftime! You'll catch Andale Band alums Alex Hall (Marching Jayhawks) and Logan Schmidt (Pride of Wildcat Land) both in their first year of college marching band. We couldn't be more proud of these two!

For those that are around our band program, you know that KU vs. K-State is hot-topic for Mr. Oliphant and Mr. Whitaker! Here's a picture from the aftermath of last year when KU Basketball took it's last trip to Manhattan during one of our pep band gigs.

We'll see which band teacher gets to come to school with some bragging rights tomorrow!

Last month a group of AHS Band students had the opportunity to spend a weekend on the campus of Kansas State University for the annual KSU Concert Band Clinic! These students were selected out of hundreds of nominations of students from across the state and placed into one of six honor bands. They rehearsed and performed all weekend with excellent clinicians, KSU Faculty, and KSU Students. It was a fantastic weekend and we're greatful to be able to participate in such an event!

We also want also shout out Abi Wegerer and Josie Myers. When students arrive at the event, they audition to be placed in one of the 6 honor bands, and Abi was placed into the top band! At the conclusion of the event, a few students from each band are also given awards for their leadership and musicianship, and the award comes with a scholarship towards participating in the band at K-State or a discount to one of their summer music camps. Josie was one of the recipients of these awards!

It was a great weekend of learning, performing, and fellowship. We're already looking forward to next year's CBC!

We want to give a huge congratulations to AHS Band Senior, Mikayla Maury, for being named as a member of the 2024 KMEA All-State Honor Band!

The KMEA All-State Honor Band consists of the best musicians from across our state, and will get the opportunity to perform at the KMEA In-Service Workshop this February.
