Hey Everyone we hope you have all had a great Mother’s Day. We just wanted to send out reminder that our golf outing that was scheduled for May 16th has been postponed and we are still working on a reschedule date. If you have any questions just let us know. Sorry for the delay but with all the things we have going on we did not get to focus on this event as much as we needed to make it a successful and fun event!

We would like to shout out and thank the Illinois City/Buffalo Prairie Fire Dept for inviting us out the last few weeks for acquired structure training sessions. We had multiple firefighters attend and refresh or learn skills. These are great opportunities for us all and we appreciate our neighbors to the West for being such great community partners.

Last weekend we got to host our first training and meeting at the new station. At training we worked on attack line deployment and decision making related to what lines to pull for certain events. Each hose color has a different purpose that reflects a certain length as well as nozzle set up that gets pumped at a certain pressure. This may seem like a slow speed training but this training sets us up for the basics of everything we do from house fires to vehicle fires, and car accidents. We are always looking for new members to help us support our community. If you want to learn more or come see what we do reach out to one of the firemen or send us a message, email, post card or waive us down on the way by!

Just a few pictures of the new station. We officially moved in 2 weeks ago and are still organizing and getting things in place. We do not have the open house scheduled yet but we are looking sometime toward the end of June. Once it is booked we will let you all know. We look forward to having the community in to see the new station.

The Rock Island County Sheriffs Department DEA Drug take back is coming up this Saturday. The picture below shows the items they take as well as items that are not allowed. See you all at 1000am. They will be taking items until 2pm

We hosted extrication training tonight with Illinois City Fire Department and the Andalusia Ambulance. Very bittersweet occasion- being our last training held at the now, old fire station. We will be moving very soon to the new one.
This old station has treated us well over the many years and we will miss it, but the new one opens up doors and allows us to properly store our fire apparatus.
Thanks to everyone that attended and big thanks to Rusty’s Towing for getting us a few cars to work on.

Please join members of the Andalusia Fire Protection District as well as the Rock Island County Sheriffs Department for the National drug take back day. April 25th from 1000-2pm. This event will be at our new station. Bring any unused, expired and unwanted medications. Great chance to get that spring cleaning started!

Really sad to hear our mutual aid partners have suffered such a loss. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult situation.
