Andalusia Public Educational Building Authority Supporting Andalusia City Schools The Authority works with the Board of Education and the Andalusia City Council to help with projects deemed needy.

BUILDING ON A SOUND TRADITION
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP

The City of Andalusia's Public Educational Building Authority was established in August of 2015 by state statute and the Andalusia City Council. The sole purpose of the Authority is to improve the infrastructure of the school district, improving the educational experience of students. With guidance from the administration and the school board, t

he Authority works to plan, design, and fund these projects. School officials and private citizens serve on the committee to develop concepts. The founding members of the Andalusia Educational Building Authority Board are Steve Posey, Paula Sue Duebelt, and Charles Eldridge. The Fundraising Committee members are Carolyn Graham, Bob O’Neal, Chris and Daphne Mohon, and Donna Raines. The projects selected for initial construction are as follows:
1. Construction of a new softball facility,
2. Upgrade and renovation of the AHS Auditorium, and
3. Renovation of AHS Municipal Stadium. The rationales for these projects are as follows:
1. The campus has never had a softball complex, posing many problems for the girls on the teams and is proving to be a competitive disadvantage.
2. The auditorium was built in 1963/1964. It has never had a major renovation. The space for dressing rooms is inadequate and the restrooms are subpar. The stage fly tower will not accommodate modern set changes. The sound and lighting systems are out dated and of poor quality. The acoustics need significant improvements.
3. The stadium was built in 1949 and has served the City of Andalusia well, but the time for improvements has arrived. The building’s structure of the visitor’s seating area is deteriorating and will soon need to be completely rebuilt. The field has to now accommodate increased use due to more use by the junior high school and the peewee teams. The press box is inadequate and not equipped for modern use. These improvements would help AHS continue its Tradition of Excellence and competitive superiority. The City Council believes these projects encourage the development of commercial development and job creation. Let’s show everyone that Andalusia takes pride in its people and especially its children. THAT IS WHY WE ARE BULLDOGS!

What better way to commemorate your years at AHS, honor a classmate, family member or favorite teacher than to purchase an engraved plaque to be placed permanently on a chair in the Auditorium. The chairs/plaques are $350. As part of the Homecoming festivities, Superintendent Ted Watson will be arranging tours of the newly completed AHS AUDITORIUM and STADIUM (press box and dressing rooms). Auditorium Chair Forms are available for pick-up at Advantage Realty and the 3rd Floor of City Hall. Come pick yours up today! If you don't have time to swing by, we've got you covered! Just download the attached form and mail it in. This is a great way to memorialize a loved one or even your graduating class. You are allowed two lines, with 30 characters per line. Bonus: All chair payments qualify as tax deductible. Yay! Hope to hear from y'all soon!

Congratulations to the 2019 graduates! We are so excited that you will be the first graduating class in the beautifully updated auditorium! A lot of work and effort has gone into preparing the auditorium for graduation. Unfortunately, with so many things to do to get ready for this important event, there was not time to install the chair plaques in time for this graduation. The plaques purchased to date have been engraved and are ready to be placed on the chairs. They will be put on after graduation so look for them the next time you go to the auditorium and.... there is still time to buy your chair to commemorate 2019 graduates.
