I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me, encouraged me, volunteered their time, and stood beside me throughout this journey. While I am disappointed that I will not be moving forward as the candidate in the general election, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have run and for every person who believed in me along the way.

This campaign required an enormous amount of time, energy, sacrifice, and dedication. I have decided not to run again. I could not have done it without the amazing team that stood beside me with unwavering support, passion, and commitment. Words cannot fully express my appreciation for those who walked this path with me and worked tirelessly to help make a difference in Madison County.

As I have always said, I am not a politician. I am simply someone who wanted to serve, create positive change, and fight for what I believe our community deserves. Unfortunately, too many citizens still choose not to vote, and when that happens, communities often miss the opportunity for real change led by people who genuinely want to serve rather than pursue politics.

Although this chapter has come to an end, my commitment to this community has not. I will continue serving as a law enforcement officer and continue fighting to make our community safer and stronger.

I encourage everyone to stay involved, continue voting, and continue working toward positive change. Together, we must keep fighting for better treatment options for mental illness, solutions for homelessness, recovery resources for drug abuse, and stronger protections for children and victims of crime.

My hope is that one day we can proudly say: “Our community is great because we stand together, support one another, and choose to be part of the solution.”

Signs will be picked up over the next few days.

If you know me, you know that fiscal responsibility has always been one of my core values. I was raised with the belief that if you want something, you work for it.

As a child, I played basketball and eventually earned a spot on a travel team that competed in Florida. My family made it clear that if I wanted to go, I would need to earn my way. That meant doing whatever it took—including collecting aluminum cans, even if it meant climbing into dumpsters. Getting in was the easy part; getting out required determination. More than once, I found myself at the bottom, having to rely on grit and perseverance to climb back out. Those moments shaped me. They taught me resilience, problem-solving, and the importance of pushing forward, even when you feel stuck.

Growing up, I often saved my lunch money to afford what I needed. I learned early the difference between wants and necessities, and the discipline it takes to prioritize accordingly.

At 17, I became a mother to twin daughters. Shortly after, I found myself raising them without the support of their father. At 21, I co-owned my first home, but after leaving a difficult relationship, I was left facing significant financial hardship. I had to rebuild—emotionally and financially—while providing for my children. It was not easy, but I was determined to create a better future for my family.

My parents encouraged me to pursue stability—my mother urging me to work, and my father insisting on higher education. I found a path that allowed me to balance both: studying criminal justice through evening classes while raising my daughters. There were times I had no choice but to bring my children to class with me. I made a promise that they would be respectful, and they always were. I was committed to earning my degree, no matter the obstacles.

Interestingly, I never initially set out to pursue a career in law enforcement. However, during an internship with the Anderson Police Department, I discovered my calling. Around that same time, a statewide initiative supported the development of highly educated, well-qualified officers. With the credits I had earned, I was given the opportunity to step into this profession—and I embraced it.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree—becoming the first grandchild in my family to do so—and in December 2001, I began my career as a special deputy in Madison County. From the courthouse to the jail, and eventually to patrol, I found my place serving the very community where my roots run deep.

To this day, I am honored to serve as a deputy. My journey—from a determined young girl climbing out of dumpsters, to a single mother overcoming adversity, to a law enforcement officer—has shaped who I am. It’s also why I continue to prioritize financial responsibility, maintaining a credit score of 843.

My story is one of perseverance, sacrifice, and commitment—not just to my family, but to this community. I understand struggle. I understand resilience. And I understand that many of us are only one unexpected hardship away from instability.

That perspective drives me to lead with empathy, strength, and accountability.

I am ready to serve, ready to lead, and ready to continue working for the people of Madison County.

I would be honored to earn your vote.

Public safety isn’t just measured by crime statistics—it’s measured by whether people feel safe, heard, and supported in their own community. Right now, many families are taking extra steps like installing cameras for peace of mind, and some hesitate to call law enforcement at all. That tells us something important: trust and communication matter just as much as numbers. When crime goes unreported, statistics can look better while real concerns remain. At the same time, proactive policing can make numbers rise because issues are being addressed earlier. That’s not failure—that’s accountability. True safety comes from strong relationships, transparency, and a community that feels confident speaking up.

I have spent nearly 24 years serving the people of Madison County in multiple roles, including Jail Officer, Patrol Deputy, Animal Control Officer, Fatal Crash Team Investigator, Field Training Officer, and Honor Guard Member. Those experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of both the inner workings of our department and the needs of the community we serve. My background includes a degree in Criminal Justice from Anderson University along with extensive training in law enforcement, emergency response, and crisis intervention.

Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized with honors such as Officer of the Year, the Medal of Merit, the Shining Heroes Award, and the Life Saver Award. While I’m grateful for those recognitions, they represent moments of doing what this job demands every day—showing up, making the right decisions under pressure, and putting others first.

As Sheriff, my priority will be ensuring our deputies have what they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. That starts with evaluating staffing, equipment, and operations to identify where improvements are needed. I will support ongoing, high-quality training, ensure fair and merit-based promotions, and maintain responsible budgeting without compromising safety.

Retention is one of the biggest challenges facing law enforcement today. Short-term fixes aren’t enough—we need long-term stability that gives officers confidence in their future here. Supporting our deputies means creating an environment where they feel valued, prepared, and committed to staying and serving this community.

I also believe public safety extends beyond enforcement. Strengthening partnerships to address mental health and substance abuse is essential, as is maintaining a strong presence in our schools to keep children safe and supported. These are not side issues—they are central to building a safer community.

Leadership requires more than promises. Words like integrity and transparency only matter when they are consistently demonstrated. I have built my career on the belief of facta, non verba—deeds, not words—and on doing what is right even when no one is watching. I will lead by example, remain accessible to the public, and stay actively engaged in this community year-round.

After more than two decades in law enforcement, I understand both the strengths we can build on and the areas where we must do better. I am ready to lead with experience, accountability, and a clear commitment to serving Madison County.
