The results from Drug Take Back Day are in!

There were 4,306 law enforcement departments that participated at 4,417 collection sites.

The total weight collected was 642,410 pounds (321 tons).

The total weight collected since the beginning of Drug Take Back Day is 21,034,225 pounds (10,517 tons).

Thank you for turning in your expired and unwanted medication. This keeps the medication out of our water system and landfills.

The next Drug Take Back Day is October 24th. We hope to see you then!

As we head into one of the busiest weekends of the year here in Indiana , the Edgewood Police Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly, stay safe, and honor the true meaning of Memorial Day as we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

With increased traffic and race weekend festivities, please keep these important safety tips in mind:

🚔 Never drink and drive — designate a sober driver
🚔 Slow down and obey speed limits
🚔 Put the phone down while driving
🚔 Watch for motorcycles, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles

A Statewide AMBER Alert has been declared.

The Hammond Police Department has requested the activation of an AMBER Alert from Hammond, Indiana which is 163 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

The victim, Devaeyah Lucas-Bell, is a 6 month old Black female, 22 inches tall, 16 pounds, black hair with brown eyes, and last seen wearing a white shirt and brown pants. Devaeyah was last seen on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 4:20 a.m. in Hammond, Indiana and is believed to be in extreme danger.

The suspect, Deandry Sabbs, is a 31 year old Black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 208 pounds, black hair with brown eyes, last seen wearing unknown clothing, and driving a gray 4-door Nissan sedan with unknown Illinois plates.

• Do NOT click suspicious links or reply to these messages.
• Scammers often use threats of arrest, license suspension, or legal action to create panic and pressure people into responding.

Update: This Warning has expired.
NWS Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3:30 PM EDT for:
• Southern Madison County ( including Edgewood)

At 2:40 PM, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Noblesville to Speedway, moving east at 40 mph.

⚠️ HAZARDS:
• 60 MPH wind gusts
• Possible damage to roofs, siding, and trees
• Downed limbs and power outages possible

Please use caution if traveling and secure any loose outdoor items. Stay weather aware and be prepared to seek shelter if conditions worsen.

Edgewood Fire Department will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates as neede

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT FROM EDGEWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENT ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 6:00 PM EDT this evening for much of Central Indiana, including Madison County.

Please stay weather aware and monitor conditions closely this afternoon.

The greatest threat window is expected between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Potential hazards include:
• Damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH
• Isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter
• A possible tornado cannot be ruled out

Please stay alert, have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
