This morning, members of the Anderson Fire Department and the Anderson Police Department joined City staff and community partners in planting purple flags to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and raise awareness about the importance of protecting older adults from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.

Elder abuse often goes unreported, making awareness and community involvement essential in helping protect some of our most vulnerable residents.

If you suspect an older adult is being abused or exploited, don't ignore the signs. Together, we can help create a safer and more supportive community for everyone.

🎆 YOU LIGHT IT, WE CITE IT 🎆

No fireworks of any kind are allowed in Shasta County—including sparklers.

🚫 Possession can result in a $250 base fine and 5 days in jail. Let’s keep Anderson safe this summer.

🔥 Dry conditions and illegal fireworks don’t mix. Celebrate responsibly.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

This morning’s Memorial Day Service at Anderson Cemetery, hosted by VFW Post 9650, was a powerful reflection of remembrance and gratitude. The Avenue of Flags stands as a moving tribute to the men and women who gave everything in service to our nation.

Thank you to Anderson VFW Post 9650, the volunteers, speakers, veterans, families, and community members who helped make today’s ceremony so meaningful.

Today, we remember.
Always, we honor. 🇺🇸

With winds and up to 40-50 mph gusts this weekend, please use caution around flames or while using any equipment that could create sparks. Might want to secure the patio furniture too!

We've issued a Wind Advisory for portions of the Sacramento Valley and Delta from 11pm tonight through 8pm Sunday. Expect north winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, strongest along and west of I-5. Use caution while driving, especially in high profile vehicles!
