For years, employees from Michelin US 8 have been among Habitat's most dedicated volunteers, and we are thrilled to have them back as Give Back Partners this year! Several employees from the plant were able to join us in raising the walls on a new home last week—just another achievement in our incredible long-term partnership. Thank you, US 8!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are grateful for their sacrifice and the freedoms it protects.

In observance of Memorial Day, the Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County back office will be closed on Monday, May 25, and the ReStore will be closed on Saturday, May 23.

We are so excited to launch our Senior Cottage Program this spring! Thanks to the generosity of Publix Super Markets Charities and Anderson County, we have the chance to build our first of many one-bedroom, one-bathroom affordable homes for individuals 55+. If you or someone you know might be interested, please come to one of the information sessions listed on the flyer! All of them will be held at the Anderson County Main Library in Meeting Room A.

This is something brand new we're doing, so make sure you come by and hear all the exciting details about the cottage program itself and how to apply! We can't wait to meet our community in this new way.

Having your own home means being able to make it your own, and make it somewhere that you are happy to celebrate life in. For our homeowner Thomas, personalizing his Habitat home meant putting in a little garden! May 19th is World Plant A Veggie Garden Day and Thomas's garden has become a source of joy as he ages peacefully in a safe and secure home. It is also a source of joy for his neighbors when he shares some of his harvest with them!

From digging the foundation for one house to painting finishing touches for another, volunteer groups from HTI have been a huge help to Habitat Anderson this month! They are a hardworking and detailed crew, but still make working on the job site a party!

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who show up, care deeply, and build others up—at home and in our community.

As we look back on last year’s Women Build, we are filled with gratitude for the women who gave their time, strength, and compassion to help make homeownership possible for a local family. More details and updates about this year’s Women Build will be shared soon so keep a look-out!

Working towards Habitat Anderson's mission of creating safe, affordable housing for all people in Anderson County is one way of showing God's love in action. We want to uplift this prayer for shelter today, which is adapted from a prayer used by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

God, may you give us the ability to hear your call to serve and a willingness to be your hands and feet, Amen.

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting some of our regular Habitat volunteers - from the job site and the ReStore - for a little appreciation BBQ. We loved having the chance to tell everyone how much we appreciate them, and thank them for their hard work and commitment. We’re so grateful for EVERYONE who volunteers their time and talent in support of our work—we couldn’t do it without you!

April is Fair Housing Month and increasing access to housing opportunities is something that is near and dear to the Habitat mission.

Our mission is to co-build a world where there is safe and affordable housing for all. Affordable housing is part of fair housing because it means creating good opportunities that meet people in their current circumstances. This year, Habitat is celebrating 100 homes and 40 years of working with income-constrained families in Anderson County that need a helping hand up. Please consider supporting us as we continue to work towards our mission.

It is the final Wednesday of National Volunteer Month and we could not let it go by without recognizing one more superstar Habitat volunteer!

Adam Vickery has been part of the Habitat Anderson family for years. He's always ready to jump in on a build, whether it is participating in a Give Back Build with his co-workers from Michelin, or serving as a crew leader at our annual Women Build. Adam’s expertise is roofing, so his work on the jobsite literally ensures that each family who completes our program has a safe, secure, roof over their heads. Now that’s something to look up to!

Thank you, Adam, for your long-time commitment to Habitat! We are always excited to see you on one of our job sites.
