Next week, MCHD will begin fogging for mosquitos along the White River in the areas recently impacted by flooding. Residents living in outlying communities may check with their local municipalities about local mosquito control efforts.

You can help prevent mosquito-borne illness by doing the following:
*Check your property for areas holding water and take action to remediate.
*Tip, toss & turn buckets, flowerpots, tires, toys, birdbaths and anything that can collect water. Even small amounts of standing water can produce mosquitos!
*Keep gutters clear.
*Wear long sleeves/pants when possible
*Use insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk. Applying repellent to clothing also helps to prevent bites.

Everyone can help reduce mosquito breeding!
Protect yourself. Protect your family. Protect Madison County.

MCHD would like to express our deep gratitude to our community partner, Lowe's Home Improvement, who provided a significant discount on buckets and cleaning supplies last week. Their generosity helped us help our neighbors recovering from the flood. Thank you, Anderson Lowes!
