Happy Friday! Melanie looks back on a great end to July as we celebrate the incredible support of our community! For each of our recipients' birthdays, Meals on Wheels - Anderson sends a Birthday Bag as part of their daily meal delivery. They are filled with fun items such as crossword puzzles and coloring books along with useful items like toothbrushes, combs and socks.

Recently, one of our volunteers shared a story about one gentleman on her route who began to cry when he opened his Birthday Bag and saw a package of new socks.

"How did you know I was down to my last pair of socks?" he asked.

For many of our recipients, receiving something as basic as a package of socks is a special occasion. Because of your support, Meals on Wheels - Anderson delivers more than just a meal to our neighbors. In this recipient's case, that meant a much needed pack of socks on his birthday.

This week at The Gathering Place, our seniors stayed active, learned new skills, and had plenty of opportunities to connect! Melanie and Johnna recap a personal safety class at our West Pelzer site and a "Growing Health" class at St. Paul. They also share an exciting preview of what's coming this fall at The Gathering Place!
