💙 **Thank you, New Palestine Community Schools **

Heart of Indiana United Way is incredibly grateful to **student Alyssa Mitchell** for organizing and leading a flood relief fundraiser in partnership with the **NPHS Student Council**.

Together, they raised an incredible **$1,678.02** to support our Long-Term Flood Recovery Fund — even more than the amount shown on their original fundraiser graphic!

Alyssa and the NPHS Student Council saw a need in our communities and took action to help. Their leadership, generosity and commitment to making a difference are a wonderful example of what can happen when people come together to support their neighbors. 💙

Thank you, Alyssa, and thank you to everyone at New Palestine High School who helped make this fundraiser a success. **Your kindness will help communities continue to recover and rebuild.**

When the water receded, the work was just beginning.
This summer, devastating flooding swept through communities across our region. Homes were damaged. Belongings were lost. Families suddenly found themselves facing a recovery they never expected.

But they haven't faced it alone.

Neighbors showed up. Volunteers stepped forward. Emergency management, COAD partners, nonprofits and community organizations came together. And Heart of Indiana United Way has been working alongside them—helping connect people, resources and support.

United Way Worldwide came to Indiana to capture some of those stories.

This is a story about flooding. But it's also a story about what happens when a community comes together after disaster.
And it is a story that is far from over.

The floodwaters have receded. The headlines have slowed.

But for many of our neighbors, recovery is only beginning.

In the weeks since devastating flooding impacted communities across our region, families have been cleaning up, rebuilding and trying to figure out what comes next.

Tomorrow, we'll share some of their stories—and the story of a community coming together to help.

Because recovery doesn't happen alone.

United is how we work together, across the community, across generations. It’s how community impact happens. One more stroke of a paintbrush. One more pulled w**d. Another blanket made. The way one kit is boxed along side another, filled with snacks or hygiene supplies.
We do it United, because big impacts are made of small moments, repeated and joined with others.

On this day 25 years ago, our country was changed forever. In partnership with Ball State University and Northwest Bank, we remember through service. Across Muncie and Delaware County, hundreds of volunteers are uniting during Day of Action to make a big difference!
