A very busy day for the dedicated firefighters at Flatrock Bowen.
-Had a woods fire on Airline Rd shortly after noon today.
-Shortly after that had a serious MVA car vs moped, in which one patient had to be airlifted for serious injuries.
-Then later in the evening had 2 large woods fires about a mile apart. One on Leatherdale rd and one in Airline rd. Both requiring the The South Carolina Forestry Commission to be called in. And one of those required assistance from Starr Fire Department and Ebenezer Fire Department with grass trucks and tanker.

We want to thank our dedicated members for the time that spend away from their families to protect our district. Want to thank the families for sharing your firefighter with us.
And today we want to thank our neighboring stations for the quick and large response.
And thank the guys from forestry for all their help when we had done all we could they had to step in and stop the spread.

KJW Law Firm attorneys Kyle White and Drew Bradshaw enjoyed seeing Chief Tommy Brock and our other friends at the Pendleton Fire Department today and presenting them with a contribution from the firm. We appreciate everything these volunteer firefighters do to keep us safe.

Anyone who wants to join us in contributing can do so electronically: Venmo- ~ PayPal- .

Next month we will be contributing to another volunteer fire department, first responder nonprofit, or veteran nonprofit. Like and share the post and tag who we should contribute to, and we will choose the next recipient at the end of the month!

Remember, fireworks CAN start wildfires! Many areas of the state, particularly our P*e Dee and coastal areas, are experiencing extremely dry conditions, including abnormally dry fuels for this time of year.

The SC Forestry Commission urges everyone celebrating outdoors this weekend to practice extreme caution if you choose to grill, start a campfire or light fireworks. As always, you are liable under state law for any fire you light that escapes, regardless of whether it started as a bottle rocket or a barbeque.

In the P*e Dee area specifically, the Carolina Bays are extremely dry and flammable, which means fires in the area can ignite and escape rapidly due to the volatile fuels. Wildfires in Carolina Bays are notoriously difficult to control, and the heat poses additional dangers to responding firefighters.

Additionally, debris on and around your house is likely extremely dry. Be sure to clear the area around your home of debris to limit wildfire risks to your property. This is a defensible space, or a buffer zone you can create between your property and the surrounding wildland area. It's key to slowing or stopping wildfire spread and protecting your home from embers, flames or heat. It also gives firefighters a safer area to defend your property.
