Today, Sheriff Don Sowell, along with Grimes County District Attorney Andria Bender, Chief Investigator John Wren and SRO Darrell Yates, had the honor of reading to the students at Richards ISD. We appreciate the opportunity to spend time with these students and share the joy of reading. Thank you, Richards ISD, for having us!

2026 National Night Out

Thank You, Grimes County!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out, who hosted, and who participated in 2026 National Night Out! We were so happy to see our communities come together, visit with one another, and enjoy a great evening.

The wonderful turnout made the night special. Thank you to our families, residents, local businesses, first responders, and community partners for helping make this event such a success.

It’s nights like this that remind us what makes our communities so special. Thank you for being a part of the Grimes County family!

TRAFFIC ALERT – FM 244

FM 244 is currently open to one lane of traffic, controlled by a traffic control device, while crews work to repair the bridge.

Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution, and follow all traffic control instructions when traveling through the area.

This traffic restriction will remain in place until further notice. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as these repairs are underway.

The members of the Grimes County Sheriff's Office and I join so many others in extending our heartfelt expressions of sympathy to Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman, his wife Jeanna and their family and friends as they are mourning the tragic loss of their son Austin. During a training session run at Texas A & M a couple of weeks ago Austin suffered a medical issue and sadly passed away Tuesday morning.
