🔁 SCDOT is nearing the completion of the new roundabout at the intersection of US 29, Bowlan Road, and Old Williamston Road in Anderson County. During peak travel times, traffic patterns lead to congestion, making the intersection challenging to navigate.

This safety upgrade will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, making it easier and safer to navigate this busy rural intersection.

Anderson County, S.C. – Appalachian Council of Governments (ACOG), in partnership with South Carolina Department of Transportation, is hosting a public meeting to present Recommended Improvements for the U.S. 29 Corridor Study in Anderson County between I-85 and U.S. 178/76. The drop-in style public meeting is scheduled to take place at Williamston Municipal Center, located at 12 W Main St, Williamston, SC 29697, on Tuesday, October 29 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The U.S. 29 Corridor Study looked at the existing land use and transportation conditions, and projected future growth in the area. That information was used to develop transportation solutions that address current and future conditions. Based on input from the community and the Steering Committee, potential solutions have been broken into three phases: Short-term Intersection Improvements, Mid-term Land Use Policy and Planning Improvements, and Long-Term Capacity Improvements.
ACOG is now seeking input from the public on which of the potential solutions are preferred.
There will be no formal presentation. Members of the public can drop in anytime between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to review the plans and discuss concerns with the planning team. Information shared at the public meeting will be posted on the project website. An online survey is also available to collect additional feedback at: https://metroquestsurvey.com/gf5v5c.
Interested members of the public can find more information on the study website: www.US29study.com
