Brett here.

I just wanted to share some thoughts with the citizens of District 4. It's been said that President Lincoln would greet normal, everyday people and that he held open office hours to accomodate visitors who would form a line to see him. Imagine being able to go to the White House and have a visit with the president today!

At some point, we have all had terrible customer service experiences where we've been forced to press 1 for this or press 3 for that and if we are lucky, maybe we get a live voice only to be transferred again.

Since being elected, I have always wanted to be approachable. I will give you my time and attention. My personal cell number has always been available and I am on the phone 7 days a week speaking with citizens. I also make a lot of personal visits with folks. I agree that a few minutes at a council meeting isn't enough time and there are also a whole lot of seniors who aren't able to attend, people who have work or family conflicts, transportation issues, etc.. There are also people who may be nervous and don't want to speak in a large crowd. Everybody in the district has a voice and I prefer an actual conversation. I don't plan to change how I serve the citizens. I think this is the best way.

I promise you can and will be heard. I really try hard to return phone calls and texts as soon as I can.

We can be on polar opposite sides of an issue and as long as the conversation stays polite, we'll talk. Whatever the issue, I will listen. Perhaps, you might even have questions about things you have seen and heard. Call me.

Remember to vote on June 11th.

Let us remember those who fought and died on this day in 1944 protecting our freedom.
By nightfall on D-Day, Allied assault troops across Normandy had suffered over 10,300 casualties—killed, wounded, and missing— of which approximately 2,400 were on Omaha Beach.

Some Fee-in-Lieu Facts

Anderson County features a business landscape of more than 230 manufacturing companies, 1,050+ retail businesses, 1,200+ professional service companies, and 545 hospitality-based organizations

For a snapshot of just how much these companies benefit the County, consider the following.

Now, again, there are 230 manufacturers in the County. Last year, just the *6* largest manufacturers in the county paid $9,575,383.35 in taxes and employed 6,780 people with an annual payroll of $323 million. And that’s just *6* of the 230! The employees of these companies are buying homes, buying vehicles, eating out, investing, providing for their families, and spending money in all our businesses.
These companies also donate hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to our community and local charities.

The taxes they and other companies pay is how Anderson County provides safety, services, and recreation year in and year out, all without a tax increase since I’ve been on Council. In fact, we had a tax *decrease* my first term on Council.

If we stop economic development, our taxes will skyrocket.

Ronald Reagan’s Trickle-Down Economics are still at work.

On this Memorial Day, I’m thankful for the men and women who sacrificed so we can be free.
