On Saturday, AFD’s Engine 1 and Rescue 3 were able to take part in a Response to Propane Incident Technician training hosted by the Anderson County HazMat Team. Taught by the team from Safety Training Specialties, those attending gained both classroom and hands on experience in recognizing, assessing and mitigating emergencies involving propane and the tanks it’s stored in.

Earlier this week, the AFD had the opportunity to support the Fairfield County Fire Service as the battled a large fire in a commercial building. Crews from departments all around the state came together as part of the SC Firefighter Mobilization plan to provide the needed help to extinguish the fire and provide needed coverage in area stations to respond to “normal” calls for service.

Today marks the final shift of an extraordinary career as Lt. Galloway retires after 26 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Anderson.

Throughout his career, Lt. Galloway has been known as a humble leader, a trusted firefighter, and a mentor who has shaped generations of Anderson firefighters through his work as our Training Officer. The lives he has impacted—both on emergency scenes and in the classroom—are countless, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Lt. Galloway, for your unwavering commitment, your servant’s heart, and for setting the standard for those who follow. Your legacy is not measured simply by the years you served, but by the people you inspired and the lives you changed along the way.

We wish you and your family nothing but happiness and God’s blessings as you begin this well-earned retirement. Congratulations on 26 years of service. You will always be a part of the Anderson Fire Department family.

Thank you, Lt. Galloway. Enjoy your next chapter—you’ve certainly earned it. 🚒❤️

When the temperature rises, there’s only one thing left to do… call in Engine 1! 🚒💦☀️

Our crew had the privilege of helping the kids at First Baptist Church cool off the best way we know how—with a little fire hose fun! There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter, and maybe even a few firefighters who got soaked along the way.

Thanks to First Baptist Church for letting us be part of a great day. We love opportunities like these to connect with our community and make a few summer memories.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and if you hear a siren… don’t worry, it might just be the neighborhood’s biggest sprinkler! 😄
