General information

In 1953, John Doyle was called upon by the Town Council to establish a fire department in the town of Edgewood, and the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department was born. Today, the EVFD provides fire and rescue protection to the (approximately) 2,000 residents of our small town. We respond to all calls, from fires, to other types of accidents, to medical emergencies. We also provided mutual aid to surrounding communities in the Madison County area. We also have a Women’s Auxiliary group of firemen’s wives that have meetings every second Monday of every month. They plan fundraisers, parties, and bring water and refreshments for the firemen when they're on duty so they stay strong and hydrated.
