A little over a year ago, our team began working with Investigator Cameron Parham to build and prosecute this case. I could not be happier to see all three of these men headed to prison!

Well done to Investigator Cameron Parham for taking the lead on this case and being so thorough in your investigation. Also, well done to Chief Investigator John Wren and Texas Ranger Chris Rainwater for obtaining confessions from every defendant. You three lawmen have everything to do with giving our office the tools to prosecute this case successfully.

Well done to Assistant DA Tammy Thomas, who has worked with law enforcement and crime victims personnel over the past year to get this case resolved and these men out of the Grimes County community. As always, our Crime Victims Coordinator Brenda Williams and Crime Victims Liaison Gilverta Diaz have done God's work shepherding the victim and her family through the legal process.

I would like to thank the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Constable's Office of Precinct 1, for providing resources to help facilitate the ex*****on of both search warrants.

This case is an excellent example of what happens when our local law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor's office work hand in hand for the common good of serving the community and obtaining justice for victims.

Well done to former Sheriff's Deputy Gene Osborn for his work in this case!

Our team was happy to finally get this case resolved. The Defendant had done plenty to delay the court process over the last two years. Fleeing from pending charges while on bond, never makes the situation better!

**PRESS RELEASE**

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, a search warrant was executed on Dick Barnes Loop in Bedias, Texas with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting including: Grimes County Constable’s Office, Pct. 1, Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, Grimes County Constable’s Office Pct. 2 and Pct.’s 3 & 4, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and US Immigration & Customs Enforcement.

Constable Pct. 1 James Ellis and Chief Investigator John Wren with the District Attorney’s Office were conducting a joint investigation related to a S*xual Assault of a Child case reported earlier in the week. As the investigation progressed, it was learned the suspect, Fidel Ramos (age 52), was living at a residence on Dick Barnes Loop in Bedias, Texas. Fidel Ramos is a registered s*x offender and was previously deported from the United States after serving prison time for S*xual Assault of a Child out of Madison County, Texas. It was determined Fidel Ramos was not registered as a s*x offender with local law enforcement.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Fidel Ramos for Failure to Register as a S*x Offender, which is a 3rd Degree Felony. A search warrant was then obtained for a property on Dick Barnes Loop to seize Fidel Ramos based on him being a wanted felon and probable cause that he was concealed on the property.

When the search warrant was executed, Fidel Ramos was found hiding in a residence on the property. Law enforcement had to make forced entry into the residence after Fidel Ramos refused to exit the structure. Fidel Ramos was transported to the Grimes County Jail and booked in for the Failure to Register as a S*x Offender arrest warrant. The following day US Immigration & Customs Enforcement also placed an immigration detainer on Fidel Ramos.

The S*xual Assault of a Child investigation is ongoing. No additional details regarding that case are being released as this time.

Today was the final Senior Presentation at Iola High School. Constable Pct 1 James Ellis joined our Chief Investigator John Wren to co-present this valuable information.

Our office considers this presentation for our local seniors to be a important public service. It is our goal to empower our local students with information about police interactions and criminal law that commonly effects young adults or causes them to come in contact with law enforcement. We hope with this information they will make more informed decisions as they move ahead with their future as adults!

Thank you Constable Ellis for being part of this program and also SRO Montgomery for helping coordinate the presentation date!

Also included are photos from the Navasota and Anderson/Shiro presentations done earlier in the semester.

I would also like to thank all of the local school districts for continuing to invite us out to put on these presentations for their students.
