In honor of America250, our Evening Discussion group is reading a Newbery Award-winning classic in June: JOHNNY TREMAIN by Esther Forbes. This classic story about Boston during the time of the American Revolution will be discussed on Monday, June 29th at 6:30PM. If you'd like to join us, consider yourself cordially invited! We still have a couple of copies of the book on-hand for you to borrow, so please ask at the library's Circulation Desk and join us at our next Evening Discussion on June 29th!

As you've likely heard, on Saturday, June 6th from 9AM-2PM, the Andover Friends of the Library are holding their AFoL Book & Bake Sale! The location for this one is going to be the Andover Town Hall Communty Room on School Road (specifically, this is the room where Andover elections are held). Anyhow, we're still in the process of collecting donations of gently-used books for this sale, so if you have any you might like to donate, kindly get them to the library by 7PM on Wednesday, June 3rd. The Friends will take your gently-used fiction & nonfiction books for adults & kids, as well as playable CDs and DVDs. We ask that you DO NOT DONATE textbooks or former library books. Thank you!!

We're putting the finishing touches on our Summer Program flyer for kids, so expect to see it sometime around the first of June. We'll have lots of fun offerings for kids this summer at the library, including visits from Mr. Magic, Ferncroft Opossums, Riverside Reptiles Education Center, ice cream, bubbles, Spanish Storytimes, Sheena, cake decorating, and more! Details will be coming soon, but sure hope you'll plan to join us!

The Andover Public Library will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. We will also be closed on Saturday, May 23rd.

Our Cookbook Club belatedly celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday evening with a tasty selection of dishes, including beef tacos, cilantro-topped tomatoes, tortilla pie, enchiladas, and a hot cheesy corn dip. Everything was delicious! While our group is taking a hiatus over the summer, we will be back in September with sandwiches and wraps! Look for more info later this year, and consider joining us!
