As part of Deep Roots, New Branches: Andover 250, the Town of Andover’s Tree Committee invites residents, families, students, neighborhoods, schools, and local organizations to help identify and celebrate Andover’s most important trees.

The goal of this initiative is to help find, document, and honor remarkable trees throughout Andover. An important tree may be especially old, large, rare, unusual, historic, beautiful, or meaningful to the community. These living landmarks connect Andover to its past, strengthen the local environment, and remind us why protecting and planting trees matters for future generations.

Nominated trees may be located in yards, neighborhoods, parks, school grounds, conservation land, or other accessible locations. Trees must be located in Andover, alive, and visible or accessible enough for volunteers to verify species, condition, and approximate size. Trees on private property may be nominated only with the property owner’s permission.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted through September 30. Learn more and submit an important tree at the link in the comments!

On Tuesday, representatives from Andover Recreation, Elder Services, Youth Services, Memorial Hall Library, the Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Andover Police Department gathered with youth and families at Memorial Circle for an afternoon of community engagement and fun.

Families had the opportunity to learn about summer programs, register for activities, receive library cards, explore DPW equipment, shoot hoops, and enjoy pizza and ice cream bars. Attendees also received information about financial assistance available for community service programs and were gifted passes to Pomps Pond.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for Town Departments to connect with residents and share resources that support children, families, and the broader community.
