What a fantastic turnout for the 89th AW Picnic this past Friday! It was a great day filled with fun, food and friendly competition.

We had a blast with activities like pickleball, co****le, basketball and an epic tug of war! A huge thank you to Paisano's Pizza for providing delicious free food, and to everyone who helped with the grilling.

A special shout-out to the Washington Commanders legends who came out and showed support!

It was a memorable day for the whole 89th AW family. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a success!

Team, please stay prepared!

🌪️BE ALERT: The area is expecting severe weather conditions later today, including high winds, heavy rain, and the possibility of tornado activity. We encourage all residents to take precautions now to help ensure the safety of your household.

Please take the following steps to prepare:
• Secure or bring inside any outdoor furniture, trash cans, decorations, or loose items that could become airborne in high winds.
• Close and secure all windows and doors.
• Unplug appliances and electronics such as computers and televisions. Power surges from lightning can cause irreparable damage.
• Ensure vehicles are parked safely, preferably away from trees when possible.
• Charge cell phones and essential electronics in case of power outages.
• Identify a safe location in your home, preferably a lower level or interior room away from windows, in the event a tornado warning is issued.
• Avoid showers or baths during lightning storms.
• Monitor local weather alerts and follow guidance from local emergency officials.

⚠ | EARLY RELEASE FOR MARCH 16

Due to inclement weather conditions, Joint Base Andrews has directed an early release on March 16 for non-mission essential personnel.

Some base services may be impacted - check back here for the most up-to-date information. Normal operating hours will resume on March 17 unless additional updates are posted.

Contact your chain of command for further questions regarding early dismissal for your unit.

BASE SERVICE UPDATES
🧸 CHILD CARE: Childcare Development Centers will close at 2pm. Parents will be contacted directly with pick-up details.
🏥 MEDICAL: Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics will close at 2pm. Patients with appointments scheduled after 1400 will be contacted by their care team. The Emergent Care Center will remain open until 7pm.
🏫 Visitor Control Center will close at 2pm.
🛒 Commissary will close at 2pm. BX will close at 5pm. Shopette will remain open until 9pm.
