On September 11, 2001, some of the first fighter aircraft launched in response to the attacks came from an Air National Guard base.

F-15 pilots Lt Col Tim Duffy and Maj Daniel Nash launched from Otis Air National Guard Base within minutes after the FAA alerted NORAD about the hijacked aircraft.

What started as a routine training day instantly became a homeland defense mission.

The Air National Guard has stood watch over American skies for decades — not just overseas, but here at home when the nation needed it most.

Palace Chase: The Palace Chase Program is a voluntary early release program that allows Active Duty members to transfer from Active Duty to the Air National Guard before their AD contract is completed.

Palace Front: The Palace Front program is an intra-service transfer program which allows Active Duty members to transfer to the Air National Guard the day after their approved Date of Separation.
