Once again, someone is targeting our citizens by calling them on the phone and telling them that they are Sgt Hunt with the Sheriff's Office and that they need to pay money for missing federal jury duty. We will never call you asking you to pay money for anything. And if you miss jury duty, the judge will have us come pick you up and bring you to his court. Please NEVER SEND MONEY TO ANYONE CALLING YOU COLD. At the very least, follow up using your own resources.

SCAM ALERT

Several text scams have been going out recently. One is that you have a Federal warrant and to pay the Sheriff's Office.
The other scams are toll violations wanting the victim to scan a bar code to pay a fine.
Today another scam came out impersonating the Postal Service again wanting the victim to scan a bar code to take care of the matter.
Do Not scan any bar code sent in a text message.
Attached are two examples of the toll scam notifications.
Again Law Enforcement Never asks for fine money online or by phone.

Citizens have reported receiving text messages about paying tickets for violations. The text gives a number to call to arrange payment. No local law enforcement agency or TXDPS will ever text or call you about paying citations or asking for payment for anything. So, do not respond to these messages. Block them immediately.

Press Release

On 11/28/25 around 1:00 p.m., the Andrews County Sheriff's Office, Andrews Police Department and Andrews EMS responded to a shots fired call on SE 2000 in Andrews County. Upon arrival, Deputies found four subjects injured at the scene. All were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two of the suspects injured were placed in custody and a third suspect was taken into custody a short time later.

Andrews County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers, and Andrews Police are currently working the scene.
