⚠️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN ⚠️

Washington Parish Fire District 5 urges all motorists to stay off flooded roadways. Just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle away and put lives at risk.

Never drive through standing or moving water. If you come upon a flooded roadway, turn around and find another route.

Your safety is more important than reaching your destination.

Tonight, members of Washington Parish Fire Districts 5 and 6 conducted a joint training focused on rural water supply operations and rural fire pump operations under minimal manpower conditions. The goal of this training was to ensure an adequate water supply while maintaining the fire flow needed for effective fire suppression operations.

In the rural fire service, minimum staffing is always a major consideration during emergency operations. Having well-trained operators and firefighters helps ensure we can safely and efficiently provide the highest quality service possible to our communities.

Training together strengthens coordination between departments and prepares our personnel to respond effectively when our communities need us most.
