The following are the answers to the questions that were posed to me by the local citizen that is organizing the community meetings. As always I am available to speak with any citizen, and I look forward to more conversations on how we can all make our community better.
In your own words, describe what it means to you to be a commissioner:
Being a commissioner is both a privilege and an honor — one that I do not take lightly. It is a serious responsibility, and I am deeply committed to serving our community with integrity, fairness, and transparency.
We all share a duty to contribute to the well-being of our town, but being a commissioner carries an added obligation: to look out for everyone, not just those who cast a vote in our favor. Our role is to uphold the laws, protect the values that define our community, and ensure that every resident — regardless of background or belief — has the opportunity to thrive.
My commitment is to preserve the integrity of our town, to listen with empathy, and to lead with purpose. Together, we can build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
2. What’s your perspective on the town keeping money in reserve versus reinvesting back into public projects and services?
It’s easy to forget that government funds are not drawn from some endless, hidden source — they come directly from the pockets of our citizens. Every dollar spent is taxpayer money, and that fact should never be taken lightly.
As stewards of public resources, we have a duty to be thoughtful, frugal, and responsible in how we allocate those funds. Wasteful or unnecessary spending not only undermines trust — it diverts money away from the projects and services that truly matter. I believe taxpayer dollars should be protected with the same care and scrutiny as any personal investment.
Before we spend a single cent, we must exhaust every alternative, weigh every option, and ensure that the decision serves the greater good of our entire community. Fiscal responsibility isn’t just good policy — it’s a moral obligation to those who entrust us with their hard-earned money.
3. What are your top 3 priorities for the town?
The top three issues facing Angier today are clear: fiscal responsibility, smart growth, and limiting government overreach.
We must maintain a balanced budget that eliminates wasteful spending and protects taxpayer dollars. Government funds are not infinite — they come from hardworking citizens, and we owe it to them to spend wisely and transparently.
Growth in Angier should be thoughtful and strategic, not reckless or rushed. Smart development strengthens our community; unchecked expansion risks damaging the very character that makes Angier special. We need a government that works, not one that simply grows. Bigger government is not the solution — and it certainly isn’t the right path forward for us now.
4. What do you believe is the biggest issue facing our town right now?
The biggest challenge we face is bureaucracy that pushes decisions toward one-sided outcomes. That’s not how democracy works. Our government must serve everyone, and that means listening to all voices, weighing all perspectives, and making choices that reflect the diverse needs of our town.
Angier deserves more unity, more consistency, and more transparency. When we come together as a community — with open dialogue and shared purpose — we can build a future that works for all of us.
5. How will you ensure professionalism and composure when dealing with challenging interactions from the public?
I will always approach my neighbors and the public with respect, humility, and Christian kindness.
My many years of experience working with the public have taught me that every person deserves to be treated with dignity. Respect and kindness are not optional — they are essential. I believe in listening with an open heart, speaking with honesty when needed, and always striving to build bridges, not walls.
Leadership begins with compassion, and I am committed to serving our community with grace, fairness, and a genuine desire to understand and uplift every voice
