πŸ”₯🍳 SAFETY SUNDAY: KITCHEN HAZARDS 🍳πŸ”₯

The kitchen is the heart of the home, but it can also be one of the most common places for fires and injuries. Angier & Black River Fire Department reminds everyone to keep safety on the menu!

πŸ”₯ Stay in the kitchen while cooking β€” Never leave frying, grilling, or broiling food unattended.

🧀 Keep things that can burn away from heat β€” Towels, oven mitts, paper products, and food packaging should stay away from the stove.

🍳 Turn pot handles inward β€” Help prevent hot food and liquids from being knocked or pulled from the stove.

πŸ‘§ Create a kid-free zone β€” Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the stove and cooking area.

🧯 Know what to do if a fire starts β€” For a small grease fire, slide a lid over the pan and turn off the burner. Never put water on a grease fire.

🚨 Make sure your smoke alarms are working and always have a clear way out of your home.

WATCH WHAT YOU HEAT. KEEP FIRE SAFETY IN THE KITCHEN.

Safety Sunday: πŸ”₯πŸ•οΈ Backyard & Campsite Fire Safety πŸ•οΈπŸ”₯

Nothing beats spending time around a backyard fire pit or a campfire with family and friendsβ€”but safety should always come first.

Follow these simple tips to help prevent unwanted fires:

πŸ”₯ Keep fires at least 25 feet away from homes, tents, vehicles, trees, and anything that can burn.
πŸͺ΅ Only burn dry, seasoned firewood. Never burn trash, plastics, or other hazardous materials.
πŸ’¨ Check the weather and avoid burning on windy days.
πŸ‘€ Never leave a fire unattendedβ€”even for a few minutes.
πŸ’§ Keep a bucket of water, a garden hose, or a shovel nearby to quickly extinguish the fire if needed.
🚸 Keep children and pets at a safe distance from the fire.
🧯 Before leaving, completely extinguish the fire by pouring water over the embers, stirring the ashes, and repeating until everything is cool to the touch.

A safe fire creates great memories. An unattended one can change lives in an instant.

πŸ”₯ Enjoy the outdoors. Burn responsibly. Stay safe.
