📣The Village of Angola is proud to announce that we have been awarded $4.5 million through Governor Kathy Hochul’s NY Forward Program to help revitalize our downtown and invest in the future of our community.
This is a transformational moment for Angola. These projects reflect the ideas, energy, and commitment of our residents, business owners, and community partners who helped shape a vision for a stronger, more vibrant downtown.
The 7 awarded Angola NY Forward projects include:
🔹 Establish the Angola Small Project Fund – $600,000
Creating a matching grant program to support building improvements, renovations, and small business investments throughout the NY Forward area.
🔹 27 North Main Street Mixed-Use Development – $1,246,000
Construction of a new mixed-use building with commercial space, upper-floor housing, and rear parking to strengthen walkability and attract new investment.
🔹 29 Commercial Street Restaurant Build-Out – $551,000
Completion of the historic building restoration with a first-floor restaurant, outdoor seating, accessibility upgrades, and site enhancements.
🔹 Parks and Recreation Improvements – $808,000
Enhancements to the N. Main Parklet, Frawley Park, and Centennial Park including accessible restrooms, new play equipment, lighting, pathways, landscaping, and gathering spaces.
🔹 Former 1919 Fire Hall Redevelopment – $303,000
Transformation of 7 North Main Street into a restaurant and banquet hall while preserving the historic character of the building.
🔹 Widmer Hotel Redevelopment – $188,000
Conversion of the former hotel into a local tavern and event space with a restored façade and rear patio.
🔹 Azalia’s Juicery Expansion – $804,000
Expansion of production and dining space, improvements to the rear patio and parking area, and support for the Peaceful Soul Farmers Market.
