Fisher House Michigan Our mission: build & support Fisher Houses in Michigan for Veterans & their families and caregivers What is a Fisher House? Why Fisher House Michigan?

A Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher House is a comfort home, built near military and VA hospitals for the families of our military and Veterans who need inpatient medical services. A temporary home away from home, Fisher Houses keep loved ones together in a supportive environment during medical crises, without the burden of an out-of-pocket expense. There are nearly 600,000 Service Members and Veterans living in Michigan, and 5 major VA Medical Centers to support them. Working collaboratively with the Fisher House Foundation and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Fisher House Michigan (FHM) helped open Michigan's FIRST Fisher House in Ann Arbor in June 2020. Additionally, a future Fisher House has also been approved for the Detroit VA Hospital, and FHM has set a strategic goal of raising $20,000,000. This amount will fund these first two houses, support the families during their stay in these houses, and provide sufficient funds to endow a future for any other Fisher Houses in the state that the VA authorizes. As of November 2022, the FHM team has raised over $11,000,000 toward this lofty goal, and there are matching periods throughout the year, during which corporate donors will DOUBLE your gift! The Fisher House at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit will follow in time. The plan for the Detroit Fisher House was approved in March 2018; and land was acquired in January 2023! We are grateful for the support of Detroiters, the Mayor, and the Detroit City Council during this process. FOR MORE INFORMATION, contact Fisher House Michigan at 313-483-6543 OR [email protected]

Fisher Houses exists to keep military and veteran families close during medical crises. Most of the time, that means being close for recovery. Other times, it means being close for goodbye.

We don't talk about that side of our mission often, but it's real, and it matters. On this Grief Awareness Day, we honor every family who has grieved inside a Fisher House.

Because a family's love is good medicine.

Green light, go! Created in 2001, National Airborne Day is a time designated by Congress to honor the nation’s airborne forces.

August 16, 1940 marked the first official Army parachute jump, validating the value of inserting ground troops behind the battle line by parachute.

To our nation’s paratroopers, we are grateful for your service.
