The Ann Arbor Housing Commission has been working with Kameron Donald of Breyko [Director of A Letter to the West Side], over the past year to document how our local housing and homeless systems work (and falls short) in Washtenaw County. The stories in the film will help the community have a better understanding of the systems surrounding mental health, housing insecurity, and homelessness in Washtenaw County.
Our goal with The Road Home has always been bigger than a film. This project is about uniting organizations and communities to better understand the challenges and create solutions for people who need help the most. Even before the public screenings begin, the documentary has already sparked important conversations among local leaders, organizations, and residents about how we move forward together.
Beginning April 23, 2026, we will be hosting multiple free screenings throughout Washtenaw County, starting with our first 2 public screening at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor on April 23rd and May 7th, and the 3rd at EMU’s Student Center on May 20th.
