A welcome new safety addition is coming to downtown. Say hello to the City’s first retractable bollards! 🥳

📍Location: 4th Ave and Liberty St Intersection

What are retractable bollards? They are sturdy metal barriers that can be raised and lowered from the ground to help close streets. They’re a convenient way to help make our streets safer, especially during special events. When not in use, they sit flush with the ground, allowing vehicles to pass safely over them.

This is just the start; many more bollards are coming to downtown. The DDA is proud to lead this collaborative effort to help make our downtown safer and more comfortable for all!

It’s go!pass season 🚌🍉

Getting around downtown Ann Arbor doesn’t have to mean navigating construction season in your car. Ride the bus and let someone else do the work for you.

With a go!pass, employees who work at companies located within the DDA boundary can ride any of TheRide’s fixed-route buses for free.

This conversion approval is critical for moving the Division Street Bikeway Project forward. We are excited to keep working to make this interchange safer for all who use it! 🚌 🚗 🚴 🚶

The Ann Arbor City Council voted to approve the conversion Monday night.

Here's a new 4th Ave Reconstruction Project update. Bus shelter installation has begun! 🚌 👷‍♂️

Let's take a look at the progress made on the project site since our last update:
➡️ Finished pouring all bus shelter foundations
➡️ Paved the intersection of William St and 4th Ave with hot-mix asphalt
➡️ Assembled and installed the first bus shelter structure near the Federal Building
➡️ Installed various sidewalk areas and decorative surfaces

Looking ahead to next week:
➡️ Finish assembly of the first bus shelter near the Federal Building
➡️ Begin assembly of the second bus shelter near the 4th and William Parking Structure
➡️ Continue sidewalk installation and additional roadway paving
➡️ Begin installation of retractable bollards at 4th Ave and Liberty

As a reminder, the intersection of 4th Ave and Liberty will remain closed to vehicles until the project is completed this Fall. Pedestrian routes through and around the work site may need to be adjusted temporarily as more concrete is poured for sidewalks and roadways.

Here's a new 4th Ave Reconstruction Project update. 👷‍♂️ 🚧

Concrete was poured on 4th Ave between Liberty and William! Pouring continues next week. Let's take a look at the progress made on the site.

Progress Update:
➡️ Started paving the west two lanes of 4th Ave from Liberty to south of the parking garage driveway
➡️ Started forming steel for concrete in bus shelter foundations
➡️ Completed storm work near the 4th and William intersection

Looking ahead to next week:
➡️ Begin pouring concrete foundations for the bus shelter
➡️ Continue paving the concrete for the roadway
➡️ Form and pour curb at the Fourth Ave. and William St. intersection

As a reminder, the intersection of 4th Ave and Liberty St will remain closed to vehicles until the project is completed this Fall. Pedestrian routes through and around the work site may need to be adjusted temporarily as more concrete is poured for curbs, sidewalks, and roadways.
