The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office would like to congratulate Deputy Jessica VanBynen on her return to work.
In August of 2022, while conducting a traffic stop, Deputy VanBynen was struck and injured by a passing vehicle. Deputy VanBynen was transported to the hospital for significant injures to her back and left leg.
At times, returning to road patrol seemed unlikely. She'd even applied for and was approved for medical retirement. VanBynen however held out, not wanting to conclude her career as a Deputy. Over the course of three-years and nine months, VanBynen underwent five surgeries and fought through countless sessions of physical therapy.
This week, Deputy Jessica VanBynen returned to the road!
The is so proud of Deputy VanBynen for her courage and determination in returning to work!
