“What You Need to Know About Will & Estate Records”
Will and estate records contain a wealth of information about a family and are a primary source for providing proof of relationship for periods before
the 1850 census records and birth/marriage/death certificates. Many will and estate records offer information as to the marital status of the deceased,
the names of their children and even approximately how old each child is. This talk will discuss the information that can be found in these records as well
as methods for obtaining them.

Patricia B. Yocum
“Researching Your Polish Family History: Getting Started”
Researching Polish family history can be a challenge. Poland’s history is complex, its language may seem daunting, and familiar sources often prove fruitless. The good news is that the research situation is fast improving. Records are being digitized rapidly both in the U.S. and in Poland, translations are increasingly available and the Web puts its riches at our fingertips. With a bit of guidance about fundamentals, use of selected sources and proven
strategies, you can establish a Polish family tree back many generations. Emphasizing sites freely available on the Web, this program will help you set course for successful searching in an area of increasing interest.
