A huge thank you to the Annandale Rotary Club for hosting the Flags for Our Heroes event today. From today through Independence Day weekend, 250 American flags will be displayed throughout Annandale, sponsored in honor of those who have served our country and community.

As we celebrate Flag Day, it is crucial to understand the importance and meaning behind its symbolism. The Stars and Stripes serve as a powerful reminder of our history, freedoms, and generations who have served and sacrificed for our county.

Here in Fairfax County, and especially in the Mason District, our diverse community reflects the very best of the American story. People from all corners of the world came together to create neighborhoods and build a sense of community.

Happy Flag Day everyone! 🎉

The Wolf Shack may be closed for the summer, but the need for hygiene supplies doesn’t take a break.

Last week, we were able to donate a large batch of items thanks to this amazing community — and now we’re working to rebuild our shelves for when school starts again this fall.

We’re collecting unused, unopened, non‑expired toiletries all summer long. These essentials make a real difference for high schoolers who want to feel prepared and confident walking into a new school year.

Every item helps a student feel seen, supported, and ready.

Had such a wonderful time celebrating the Justice High School rowing team at their end‑of‑year event! Another great year supporting these incredible athletes. As the only Title I school in Fairfax County, Justice provides access to a sport that can be out of reach for many families, and it’s inspiring to see these students thrive when given the opportunity.

A special shout‑out to our former intern and rower, Chloe, who is heading to Bucknell to join their D1 rowing team — we’re so proud of her!

It’s been a pleasure to support this program and help the team secure funding for their very first boat. Looking forward to many more successful seasons ahead!

It was such a privilege to speak with families of our Multi‑Lingual Learners in recognition of their students’ incredible progress and the support they provide at home. Our MLL families are a vital part of what makes Mason District so strong — their commitment, resilience, and partnership with our schools help ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

I also was thrilled to be invited to talk to Westlawn Elementary’s 6th graders as they get ready to take their next big step into middle school. Grateful for the chance to support our families, cheer on our students, and champion language learning success across our community.

Had a great morning at Belvedere Elementary School for the 5th grade Primary Years Programme Exhibition, where students shared the action‑driven projects they’ve been working on all year. As part of the IB program, these students selected topics of interest, conducted research, and made a real impact in our community. So proud of their hard work!

Two graduations in one day — what a joy. It was an honor to join Mason District School Board - FCPS with Annandale High School and Justice High School for their commencement ceremonies and celebrate the incredible seniors who have worked so hard to reach this moment.

Cheers to the Class of 2026 and to the bright futures ahead.

Our team was pleased to attend the ribbon-cutting for SPARKS ABA’s new Springfield Learning Center earlier this week, which offers ABA therapy, speech and occupational therapy, school-readiness programs, social skills groups, diagnostic evaluations, and in-home support. We’re excited to welcome this meaningful resource to the Springfield community!

I was honored to attend Northern Virginia Conservation Trust's (NVCT) annual gala last night at Meadowlark Gardens, celebrating 32 years of urban conservation partnerships across our region. As a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, I’m proud to support NVCT’s work to protect nearby nature and strengthen conservation efforts in our community. A beautiful evening for an important mission.

This is a great way to get involved in the community this summer.
