Over the last month, my office has been working with John Hartt and Mason Arts Council to provide Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences with a new mural, honoring the arts and sciences. I couldn’t be happier with the results!

Huge shoutout to John Harrt (John Hartt) for this incredible artwork and to James Albright, Chair of the Mason District Arts Council for always championing the arts here in Mason.

With the first week back to school officially in the books, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than kicking off our Mason District Teacher and Staff Appreciation Year!

As a way to thank the incredible crew of teachers, faculty, and staff at Westlawn Elementary School, my office partnered with Paisanos to organize a back-to-school pizza party! I had a wonderful time speaking with everyone and learning how I can continue to support their teachers and staff.

Mason District Park has a new, more accessible, and multilingual (English, Korean, Chinese) map!

Not only is this map more equitable, it includes clearer information on the park’s incredible trails, bike paths, and amenities. I couldn’t be more grateful for community leaders like Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington-KCSCGW, Coalition for Smarter Growth, and Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) for their advocacy and dedication to this project.

I was honored to join today’s Women’s Equality Day Celebration at the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial, the first national memorial dedicated to all American women suffragists.

Happy first day of school Mason District! Wishing everyone a wonderful 2026-2027 school year.

In light of this new school year, I’d like to take a moment to recognize just how hard our FCPS teachers and staff work to lead our youth to success. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that my office will be leading a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Year! We’ll be visiting schools, sharing staff spotlights, hosting teacher appreciation lunches, and much more.

For young people interested in public service, internships can serve as pivotal experiences that inspire career paths and create space for meaningful relationships to be built.

This summer, my office welcomed two amazing interns: Eshal Malik, rising senior at Thomas Edison High School and Alexander de Dios, rising junior at Georgetown University.
