The Student Government Association at NOVA-Annandale has been in continuous service for over 25 years. We serve as a liaison between the student body and the college administration. We also present student concerns and interests to the NOVA-Annandale Campus Council and the Academic Senate. SGA Officers and Senators are leaders on the NOVA-Annandale campus. However, dedication to serving the studen
t body is only one of many responsibilities our SGA leaders have. All of our Officers and Senators are dedicated to academic excellence as they strive to consistently meet the academic requirements in order to serve in the SGA. The General Body is comprised of the following: The Executive Board, The General Board & NOVA Annandale Student Body. All registered NVCC Students with Annandale as their primary campus shall be eligible for voting membership in the SGA’s General Body at the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

Meet Jourdan A. Cummings, the 2022-2023 candidate for SGA senator. Let’s get to know him: “Being a first generation student and first generation Caribbean-American, I know too well about the difficulties of navigating the college experience. I spent a lot of my time researching and resource-finding in order to push through to the end and it has taught me that while the resources are there, they are not always easy to find. Thus, I want to involve myself in the discovery of college-wide resources as well as the development of programs and events that would allow incoming students with similar backgrounds to see the full expanse of their choices without having to sacrifice the time to find them and miss the opportunities to fully integrate themselves in the diverse NOVA student community”. Tenzin Tsega, candidate for 2022-2023 SGA president. Tenzin has been with SGA as a senator since Fall 2021 and has shown successful leadership skills. Here is what we know about Tenzin: “I am a first generation college student and a son of two Tibetan refugee and immigrant parents. My main purpose in life is to bring comfort to people all around the world. I do so in my work as ASA president, SGA senator, through my hobbies such as songwriting, performing, learning music therapy and I intend to continue doing so as SGA president. I am majoring in International Relations. I have spent half of life in India in a multicultural community and my life experiences have been shaped by many diverse groups of people; which has been my biggest inspiration in life and why I always make it a priority to include individuals of all backgrounds in my plans and goals. we would like to introduce the 2022-2023 candidate for SGA Senator Maddie Gebremichael. Let’s get to know maddie: “I'm a first-generation college student with aspirations for success in all areas of my life. I've been through a lot, from culture shock to feeling left out. I decided that I would join or do anything that was of interest to me, even if I had no prior experience. I discovered my passion for writing and even received a national scholarship. I want to be a part of SGA because I want to be part of the team that represents students as a whole by creating solutions to common inconveniences or problems on campus to help students utilize all possible opportunities and achieve success. I aim to establish an environment in which future entrepreneurs or scientists can stumble upon a small interest through involvement that could spark a whole new or existing passion. I want to be a part of the team that makes these dreams a reality.

Help us raise money for the Visionary Scholarship by joining us on April 6th for a trip to Busch Gardens! The trip costs $30 and applications are available in CF 232. The trip is open to all NOVA students.
