Check out all of the great programs happening at Smallwood State Park this weekend! While you're visiting Smallwood, you can also collect points towards the "American in Miniature" State Park Adventure Challenge. The Sweden Point Discovery Center at Smallwood State Park is open Thursdays 1-4 p.m., Fridays 10-12 Noon & 1:30-4:00 p.m., Saturdays 11-3 p.m. and Sundays 10-3p.m. from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

Two chances to experience New Germany State Park under the light of the full moon.

On June 28, join us for a one-hour Full Moon Kayaking adventure on New Germany Lake. Then, on June 29, take a guided Full Moon Hike through the forest and enjoy the first full moon of summer, known as the Strawberry Moon.

Both programs begin at the Lake House and are weather dependent. Space for kayaking is limited and advance registration is required. For more information or to register for the kayaking program, email [email protected]. Come see the park in a completely different light!

What stories can a place tell?

Join us at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park and Visitor Center for an author talk and book signing with Robin Michel Caudell, author of Black Heel Strings: A Choptank Memoir and winner of the 2023 Veterans Writing Award.

Drawing on her experiences growing up on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Caudell explores family, identity, history, and the lives of the people who remained and built communities in the Chesapeake region. The program takes place Sunday, June 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center Multi-Purpose Room. Admission is free.
