The Rural Maryland Council, an independent State agency, brings together rural leaders, government officials at all levels, and representatives of the nonprofit and for-profit sectors to identify and craft solutions to the challenges facing rural Maryland. The weather was beautiful for Rural Maryland Council's (RMC) Maryland Day celebration! The Chesapeake Culinary Center carefully crafted "Mocktails and Munchies" that were a big hit with attendees. We appreciate the Legislators and Delegates who took time out of their busy schedules to stop by and hear more about the tremendous impact of Rural Maryland Council. Thank sponsors for your support!

Maryland Day was celebrated on March 25, 2024 because it was on this date in 1634 that the state's first settlers arrived in what is now St. Mary's County, at St. Clements Island. Rural Maryland Council looks forward to celebrating this historical day every year.

The second stop on the tour was the Home Innovations Lab, a full-service research campus that recently partnered with the USDA Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory to produce a new guide to help identify design principles and construction practices to improve the moisture performance of wood-framed balconies and decks.
