Learn more about Small Business Awards Finalist, Anniston Lions Club!

"In 1917, Chicago businessman Melvin Jones, along with other local organizations, founded the Lions Club service organization. He believed in transforming personal success into community and humanitarian service. He urged business professionals to use their talents for the betterment of society which established the "We Serve" motto. His ideas quickly spread and Lions Clubs International was established in 1920. A key milestone occurred in 1925 when Helen Keller challenged members to become "Knights of the Blind", establishing sight conservation as a core mission. In 1947 key local businessmen founded the Anniston Lions Club. As the club grew over the years, we partnered with many community organizations, focusing on non-profits that supported the underserved populations within Calhoun County and surrounding areas. The Anniston Lions Club’s work reflects a heart of service which is our core philosophy. We have done this throughout our 79 year history by donating thousands of man hours through many service projects and donating hundreds of thousands of dollars through our fundraising activities. We look forward to continuing to expand our impact in the community through Lions Club's global causes—Vision, Hunger, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Youth, Humanitarian Efforts, Disaster Relief and Mental Health.

The Anniston Lions Club is proud to be considered for Small Business of the Year. While we are a volunteer-driven organization rather than a commercial business, we operate with the same local commitment, accountability, and consistency that define great small businesses: we listen to our community, identify needs, mobilize resources, and deliver measurable results."

Learn more about Small Business Awards Finalist, West Anniston Foundation!

"The West Anniston Foundation was established to address long-standing environmental health, economic, and social challenges in West Anniston community in 2002. The organization was the result of a group of community residents who started a grassroots movement focused on environmental health issues.

Today, the organization continues to honor its roots by centering resident voice, preserving local history, and developing innovative programs that support both healing and long-term community revitalization for the West Anniston community focused on health, education and community development.
