Operation Save Teens

Operation Save Teens “Operation Save Teens” is a FREE 90-minute program conducted by the ABC Board. About half of 9th -12th graders admit to having used Marijuana. S.

"Operation Save Teens" is an age-appropriate program designed over two decades ago to educate youth on the inherent dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, bullying, firearms, the misuse of social media, and other destructive behaviors. Each "Operation Save Teens" program is geared toward the needs of the requesting organization. "Operation Save Teens" has educated hundreds of thousands of students sin

ce it was developed in 2001. This program is constantly updated to reflect the latest destructive trends affecting our youth in America.

**A. SOCIAL MEDIA - Discussion on the long-term effects of posting questionable content on social media sites, texting, or instant messaging. Heavy emphasis that social media posts are forever and not private as often thought. **

*B. GUNS - Discussion on the hazards of handling firearms with limited or no experience and how it can be fatal.

*C. BULLYING - The consequences of bullying and objectives on how to stop the trend in schools.

**D. MARIJUANA - Discussion on the dangers of marijuana use and the lasting effects on the developing body and the brain of young people. Marijuana has become a major issue in our schools today due to the rapid increase in use by middle and high school students. Students have access to many new forms of marijuana many of which are readily available at local retailers. These new forms include, but are not limited to:

+ EDIBLES - Discussion and Identification of edibles and the hazards of experimenting with food products laced with controlled substances like CBD and THC;

+ VAPING - Discussion on the Vaping Health Crisis and how vaping is not a smoke cessation protocol. Vaping companies compromised a generation of our youth on a false narrative. Focuses on the deaths and bodily harm created by the new vaping epidemic;

+ DABBING - Extremely high levels of THC content which result in erratic behavior and could lead to death;

+ SYNTHETICS - Discussion on the inherent dangers of synthetic drugs and availability to the general public;

**E. OPIOIDS - Discussion on the U. life expectancy and how the “Opioid Crisis” has brought back the use of Heroin in America. In the year 2020, 93,000 U. Citizens died as a result of drug overdoses this is Up 29% from the previous year. Think about this that is (250 Americans per day, 11 people Americans per hour, and one American dies every 5 ½ minutes.)

**F. ALCOHOL - Discussion of the most abused drug in the United States. Did you know that 78% of high school students admit to drinking alcohol and 1/3 identify as a “Binge Drinker”? In fact, teens report their first experience with alcohol around 8 years old. "Operation Save Teens" is proud to have the Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council as an education partner.
