On August 12, 2026, the Anniston Police Department and the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant in the 3000 block of McKleroy Avenue after officers developed probable cause to believe illegal drugs were being funneled through the residence.
With the assistance of the Anniston Police Department Special Response Team, investigators executed the warrant and recovered approximately 2 ounces of suspected fentanyl, along with U.S. currency.
To put that amount into better perspective, the DEA has stated that as little as 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be a potentially lethal dose. At that benchmark, this seizure represents the equivalent of more than 28,000 potentially lethal doses removed from our community.
Illegal drug trafficking does not exist in a vacuum. Drug activity is routinely intertwined with other criminal activity and is a significant driver of theft, weapons offenses, assaults, and violence in communities across the country. When we target drug trafficking operations, our goal extends beyond simply removing narcotics. We are targeting one of the underlying engines that fuels crime and destroys families and neighborhoods.
This investigation remains ongoing, and criminal charges are expected.
The Anniston Police Department will continue working with our partners to identify individuals and organizations responsible for distributing dangerous drugs in our city. Additional drug operations are being targeted, and more enforcement actions will follow.
Our message to those engaged in the drug trade is simple: If you choose to peddle poison in our city, expect a visit from us.
We will continue doing our part to make Anniston a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
