Recognizing Our 2026 Journeyworker of the Year – Region 2!

During National Apprenticeship Week, the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship is proud to recognize our 2026 Journeyworker of the Year for Region 2, Tony Pritchett.

Tony is a Water/Wastewater Distribution Operator with the Anniston Water Works & Sewer Board, where he plays a key role in supporting apprentices as they transition into the workplace. Through hands-on guidance and consistent support, he helps apprentices build both the technical skills and confidence needed to succeed in their roles.

He takes the time to ensure apprentices understand not only how to perform their work, but also the importance of safety, responsibility, and teamwork in water and sewer operations. His approach to mentorship creates a strong foundation for long-term success and professional growth.

Tony’s patience, leadership, and commitment to developing others reflect the impact of Registered Apprenticeship in action.

Slow Down. Stay Alert. Keep Our Crews Safe.

It’s National Work Zone Awareness Week, and at the Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board, the safety of our field crews is our top priority.

Whether we’re repairing a main, upgrading infrastructure, or performing routine maintenance, our teams are out working near traffic every single day to ensure reliable water and sewer service for our community.

When you see the orange cones, signs, and AWWSB trucks, please remember to:

Slow down and obey posted speed limits.

Stay alert and put away your phone and other distractions.

Give them space so they can do their jobs effectively and get home safely to their families.

Thank you for helping us keep Anniston safe!
