Anoka Heart Safe Community

Anoka Heart Safe Community A heart safe community participates in a public access defibrillation (PAD) program like Allina's Heart Safe Communities. Anoka Heart Safe has three goals:
1.

The Anoka Police Department and the Anoka-Champlin Fire Department have combined their efforts to provide FREE hands-only CPR training to Anoka Residents, Businesses, and Organizations. Through such programs, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are place in the hands of emergency medical service, fire and police personnel. AEDs also are made available in nursing homes, businesses, churches, g

I believe this is as good of a time as any to highlight the importance of learning CPR and the use of an AED. Here is one of the most physically fit professional athletes in the world and he suffered sudden cardiac arrest during the first period of a game. Many people still fall into the assumption that exercise and eating correctly will automatically guarantee this will ever happen. Both will absolutely go a long way preventing events such as this but keep in mind that anyone of any physical condition can still fall victim to SCA. To be clear, I’m not advocating you set aside healthy habits, I’m simply pointing out SCA can happen to anyone of any physical fitness so it’s essential we all learn what to do. Don’t wait for the help, BE the help!

Blues defenseman Bouwmeester was rushed to hospital Tuesday after collapsing on the bench. St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong said the 36-year-old is undergoing tests to determine the cause of cardiac event.

‼️AED SAVE ‼️
On Sunday, 04/22/2018, at 10:35 AM, Officers from the Anoka Police Department responded to a medical at the 4H building at the Anoka County Fairgrounds after a person had collapsed. Upon arrival, Officers determined the male was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Officers took over CPR from bystanders and applied an AED to the patient. The AED delivered one shock to the patient and CPR was continued. At one point the patient grabbed an officer's hand and tried to speak. A pulse was located again and the male was transported to Mercy hospital where he is stable and recovering.

It's been a hectic week this far so I didn't get to post this. Monday night I was able to train around 35 of the coaches for Anoka Area Hockey Association at their meeting. The meeting went long for them so I thank each of them for being there to the end.
