SCAM ALERT: Warrant Payment Scam

Our Police Department has recently received calls from citizens reporting that they are receiving phone calls appearing to come from our department’s phone number. The individual on the line claims that the citizen has a warrant and must make a payment over the phone to avoid being arrested or to “take care of” the warrant.

Please know: THIS IS A SCAM.

Our Police Department will NOT call you to notify you that you have a warrant and demand payment over the phone. Our officers will not accept any form of payment from a citizen to clear up any criminal matter or otherwise. We will not request payment in the form of:

Cash or currency
Gift cards
Cryptocurrency
Wire transfers
Send couriers to pick up cash
Or any other payment in exchange for clearing a warrant

Scammers can spoof phone numbers, making a call appear to come from a legitimate government agency or other trusted source.

If you receive a call like this, hang up. Do not provide personal or financial information, and DO NOT send money.

If you are concerned that you may have a warrant or owe money to a government office or other legitimate organization, do not use the phone number provided by the caller. Instead, independently locate and call the actual office using a verified phone number.

Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors. A simple reminder could help prevent someone from becoming a victim of this scam.

When in doubt, hang up and verify.

Today marks four years since our friend, partner, and brother, Eric, passed away.

Not a day goes by without your name coming up around here. We often find ourselves reminiscing about the jokester you were, the countless jokes played on you, and, of course, all those “signature” Groebner terms that became part of our everyday vocabulary. Those memories still bring a smile and remind us just how much personality and laughter you brought into our department.

But beyond the jokes and the laughter, you were an amazing father, a devoted husband, and an outstanding officer. You cared deeply about the people around you and left an impact we still feel every day.

Four years later, you are still talked about, still remembered, and still missed beyond words.

We’re grateful for the memories, the laughs, the stories, and the privilege of having called you our friend and partner.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Rest easy, Eric. We’ll keep telling the stories.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the victims, the survivors, the families forever changed, and the countless first responders and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness.

25 years later, we remember.
We honor. We will never forget.
