Update Tuesday, June 9 at 11:40 a.m.:
Ervin Campbell has been found guilty on the charge of attempted enticement of a minor.
Campbell is facing a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison, and a fine up to $10,000. The court has not yet set a date for his sentencing.
As part of the conviction, Campbell has to forfeit the iPhone 16 Pro that was involved in the crime to the federal government.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office would like to say thank you to everyone who helped make our HB 33 Active Threat Drill possible.

These trainings give first responders, schools, and community partners the opportunity to work together, strengthen communication, and be better prepared should an emergency ever occur. We appreciate the time, effort, and teamwork that each participant brought to the exercise.

A special thank you to Anson ISD and First Baptist Church of Anson for allowing us to use your facilities. Your support played a major role in making this training a success.

We are grateful for the strong partnerships throughout our community and the shared commitment to keeping our schools and citizens safe.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, there will be increased law enforcement presence and activity at Anson High School due to a planned training exercise.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS ONLY A DRILL.
There is no cause for alarm.
