🖌️🧩🫧 Learning Through Play! 🌱💕

Our infants had a fun-filled week of painting, puzzles, bubbles, and outdoor exploration! 🌈☀️

Although these activities may look like simple fun, so much learning is happening! Through painting, our little ones are developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sensory awareness, and creativity. 🖌️

Puzzles encourage problem-solving, cognitive development, visual perception, and persistence. 🧩 Bubbles provide opportunities to practice visual tracking, reaching, grasping, coordination, and cause-and-effect learning. 🫧

And outdoor time gives our infants the chance to explore their environment while building gross motor skills, balance, spatial awareness, sensory development, and confidence. 🌿

As teachers, we stand nearby to provide gentle encouragement, guidance, and support, allowing each child to explore at their own pace. Every little reach, grab, crawl, smile, and discovery is a step toward growth! ❤️

Our infants are growing, learning, exploring, and developing every single day! 🌱✨

These toddlers are learning about letters, colors, and so much more—all while having fun! 💕🔤🎨

Although this activity may seem simple, there is actually so much learning happening! Our teachers are talking with the children about the letter they see, identifying the colors they are using, and encouraging them to think about how and why the pom-poms will stick. 🧠✨

This activity supports language development, color and letter recognition, fine motor skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, hand-eye coordination, and early science concepts. The children are learning through conversation, exploration, and hands-on play—and that’s what makes learning so much fun! ❤️

Outside fun with teachers and friends is always a good idea! ☀️💦🫧

Today our little ones had a blast enjoying chalk bubbles with their teachers and friends! 🎨🫧 From creating colorful chalk designs to blowing, popping, and watching the bubbles move, the children were able to explore, experiment, and simply have FUN!

Activities like this may look like just play, but so much learning is happening along the way! 💕 Chalk bubbles encourage fine-motor development, hand-eye coordination, sensory exploration, creativity, communication, social skills, and early scientific thinking as children observe what happens when they mix, blow, pop, and create.

Most importantly… there were lots of smiles, laughter, teamwork, and memories made with friends! 🥰

Because at Something Extra Preschool, learning happens everywhere—even outside! 🌈✨

Learning All About Paper 📄✨

These 2-year-olds get to learn all about “paper” this week! 📚

We’re exploring the different types, colors, shapes, textures, and feels of paper while using our senses and curiosity to discover something we see every day! 👀🖐️

This simple activity supports so much development, including sensory exploration, language development, fine-motor skills, cognitive development, early math concepts, and critical thinking. As the children touch, compare, sort, describe, and experiment with different papers, they’re learning through hands-on play! 💕🧠

Who knew PAPER could be so much fun?! 😍📄

🎨Little Hands, Big Learning! 🖐️

Our little friends had a wonderful time doing some fine motor activities with their teachers! 💕

Watching them explore the paint, feel its texture, and make their own little marks is more than just messy fun-it’s learning through their senses!

 Finger painting helps infants develop:
🖐️ Fine motor skills – strengthening little fingers, hands, and wrists
👀 Hand-eye coordination – learning to watch and guide their movements
🧠 Sensory development – exploring textures, colors, and the feeling of paint
🎨 Creativity & self-expression – giving them a chance to explore and create freely
💪 Cognitive development – discovering cause and effect as they see what happens when they touch, swipe, or make a mark

Every little swipe, squish, and colorful print is a learning experience! 🌈💗

The preschoolers had a great time creating their very own self-portraits! 🎨🪞❤️
They started by looking closely in the mirror, talking with their teachers and friends about what they saw, and comparing their different features. From hair and eye color to facial features, each child had the opportunity to notice and celebrate what makes them uniquely them! 🥰
This activity supports so much development, including:✨ Self-awareness & identity – recognizing and appreciating their own unique features🎨 Fine-motor skills – drawing, choosing materials, and creating details🧠 Cognitive development – observing, comparing, and making connections🗣️ Language development – describing what they see and sharing their ideas❤️ Social-emotional development – building confidence, self-esteem, and appreciation for differences👀 Visual perception – noticing shapes, colors, lines, and facial details
We love watching our preschoolers learn about themselves while expressing their creativity! 🌟
