Friendly reminder with the summer months approaching; pets get hot. Lets be considerate and make sure that if your pet is outside make sure there is plenty of water and shade. Also please know that under ordinance a pet can only be on a chain outside for a period of one hour at a time, four times a day. Thank you!

The Anthony Police Department would like to remind everyone with the new lake trail opening soon, the trail only permits bicycle, tricycle, mobility scooters, permitted golf carts, permitted utv and/or (side by side), and walking. No other motorized vehicles are allowed on the lake trail. Any golf cart or utv and/or side by side must have a special use City of Anthony annual permit and can only be operated by those who are 18 years old or older with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for the golf cart, utv, or side by side. This permit allows for the operation of the golf cart, utv, and or side by side to be operated within the boundaries of Anthony Lake and areas within the city limits. If you have not yet, please visit the Anthony Police Department M-F 8am-12pm to get your special use annual permit.

The Anthony Police Department has an immediate opening for a full-time police officer position and is offering a $1,500 sign on bonus. A new hire will receive $500 dollars when hired and $1,000 after 90 days.
Our department seeks a professional, motivated person with strong moral character, who has an interest in protecting and serving the residents of a small farming community which takes great pride in its small-town feel. Applicants should possess a community-oriented, policing mindset and desire, with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Our department is authorized to staff 5 sworn positions including the Chief of Police. Our officers work rotating 12-hour shifts that allow a 3-day weekend off every two weeks. Like most police positions, applicants will be required to work some weekends, holidays, day shift, night shift, and other varying special assignments depending on need.
We offer an excellent employee benefits package including fully paid single or family health/dental insurance, KPERS retirement, and first year employees accrue 12 hours of paid time off each month of employment. The department will pay for your attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, and upon completion you will receive the opportunity for advanced training as you progress in your career. Most importantly, working at a small-town police department affords you the opportunity to investigate a case from the first dispatch to the jury trial. You will get the opportunity to respond to a wide variety of calls for service, investigate felony cases ranging from drug distribution to s*x offenses, write and execute search warrants, and do this all while making strong connections with your community along the way.
Starting salary is a minimum of $23.09
Minimum qualifications include a high school or GED diploma, 21-years of age at time of appointment, a valid Kansas driver’s license, no criminal record, pass an extensive background check, written aptitude test, interview board, drug screen, and psychological testing.
