Ricky proving once again that “groundskeeper” really means *whatever needs doing* 💪

Today he’s inside, taking care of some drywall repair and fresh paint at one of our many town facilities. Yesterday it was outside work… tomorrow, who knows — could be both.

Public Works isn’t just roads and plows — it’s keeping every building, space, and service running for the community.

Appreciate the versatility, Ricky. Public Works makes it happen. 👷‍♂️🎨

A big thank you to everyone who came out to Town Meeting and took part in the discussions and voting. Seeing residents show up, ask good questions, and take an active role in the future of our town is what makes communities like Antrim special.

We especially appreciate the support for the warrant articles approving $1.2 million in road improvements and the replacement of our town grader. Investing in our infrastructure helps us continue the progressive preservation of our roads, equipment, facilities, and the hardworking people who keep everything running.

Thank you again for your trust and support in keeping our town moving forward (and our roads moving smoothly).

Here is a good video on why our gravel roads do what they do during mud season. There is still a lot of frost in the roads, we may have a difficult time with mud this year.

Storm Update from Antrim Public Works ❄️

Well folks… Mother Nature has decided we haven’t had enough winter yet.

Forecasts are calling for a messy mix of snow, sleet, and freezing drizzle starting late tonight and into tomorrow morning, which means roads could get slick in a hurry. Even a little bit of ice can make things interesting out there.

The Antrim Public Works crew will be on the job overnight and through the storm, treating and plowing roads as conditions change. Mixed precipitation storms like this keep us on our toes, but the trucks will be rolling and the coffee will definitely be flowing.

A few friendly reminders:

🚛 Give the plow trucks room to work – they’re big, heavy, and don’t stop like your pickup.
🧊 Expect slippery spots, especially early in the morning.
🚗 If you don’t need to travel, staying home helps everyone.
🚫 Please keep vehicles out of the roadway so we can plow curb to curb.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while our hard-charging highway crew keeps Antrim moving.

Stay safe and we’ll see you out there.

🚨 NOW HIRING – TRUCK DRIVER / LABORER 🚨

Town of Antrim Public Works

This isn’t a desk job.

This is early mornings, diesel engines, fresh gravel, hot asphalt, and keeping the Town of Antrim moving when the weather turns sideways.

We’re looking for someone who:

✔ Knows their way around a plow truck at 3AM
✔ Takes pride in a clean ditch line and a smooth road
✔ Understands that winter storms aren’t an inconvenience — they’re game time
✔️Thinks mud season builds character
✔ Can wrench on equipment when needed
✔ Shows up ready to work and backs up their crew

The Town of Antrim Highway Department has an opening for a Truck Driver/Laborer to help maintain roads, drainage systems, parks, cemeteries, and everything in between. When storms roll in, we roll out. When roads need fixing, we fix them.

💰 Pay: $24–$27/hour
🛻 CDL Class B with Air Brakes required
❄ Overtime expected during storms and winter operations
🌞 Summer schedule: Four 9-hour days + a 4-hour Friday

We offer strong benefits, retirement through the New Hampshire Retirement System, health/dental/life insurance, paid holidays, and long-term job stability.
We work hard. We take pride in what we do. We look out for each other.

If that sounds like your kind of crew — we want to hear from you.

Applications available at Town Hall or at www.antrimnh.org.

❄️ Incoming Winter Storm – Please Prepare ❄️

The latest forecast is calling for the storm to begin after midnight tonight, with projected snowfall totals of 10–15 inches and wind gusts of 40–50 mph. Blizzard conditions are expected at times.

This storm is anticipated to be more impactful than the previous event, with snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour possible. Those rates will significantly hamper winter operations and reduce visibility for both plow operators and motorists.

Please prepare now for possible power outages, secure loose outdoor items, and stay home if you can once conditions deteriorate. Travel during peak snowfall and high winds will be dangerous.

Our crew will be on duty throughout the storm, working hard to keep roads passable.

A reminder: it takes 3+ hours to complete one full round of plowing in town under normal winter conditions. With heavy snow and strong winds, it may be well over three hours before you see a truck return to your road. We appreciate your patience as we work safely and efficiently.

Please check on neighbors, especially elderly residents, and plan accordingly. Stay safe, everyone.

Good morning all:

It appears we are forecasted to receive 4-8” of wet snow this afternoon into tomorrow morning. With the recent warm temperatures the gravel roads will be a slight struggle in spots because the top layer has loosened up a bit.

The crew will be present through out the storm.

Thank you and drive safe.

💘 A Valentine from Antrim Public Works 💘

Roses are red,
Our sand pile’s not small,
We love keeping Antrim
Rolling through it all.

When snowflakes are falling
Or mud season’s near,
We’re shaping and fixing
The roads you drive year-round here.

Our trucks may move slow,
But our hearts move fast —
Especially in storms
On that three-hour pass.

And speaking of love…
Let’s talk about a grader.
Not flashy. Not fancy.
But we truly need it sooner, not later.

A road grader is the quiet hero of town —
It reshapes gravel roads when frost heaves push down,
Cuts ditches for drainage so water can flow,
Crowns the road surface so ruts don’t grow,
Preps roads for paving, keeps shoulders in line,
And maintains safe travel in every season’s design.

It’s a four-season machine, steady and true —
Working spring, summer, fall… and winter too.

And that Road Bond article?
Be still, our hearts ❤️
Because long-term investment
Is where safer travel starts.

Nothing says “we care”
(At least to our crew)
Like smoother roads
And upgraded equipment too.

So this Valentine’s Day,
Whether you wave or just drive on through,
Know we’re proud to serve
And grateful for you.

With appreciation (and maybe a little asphalt),

Your Antrim Public Works Team 🚜❄️

❄️ WINTER STORM WARNING - UPDATE 1/25/2026 11:00am❄️

Here we are, snow has started falling in town. We will begin plowing once 3” have fallen at the highway garage. Salt will not be effective during the atorm so we will hold off on it and will use sand if any traction issues are present. Snow fall rates will be high and will hamper winter operations, it takes 3+ hours for one round with a full fleet of trucks and equipment, so bear in mind that their may be more than 3” on your road at times.

The fleet is up and running and the crew is ready to go as well, as always the residents safety is our priority but our employees are priority as well. During the overnight we will ramp down to let employees get some rest as this storm is expected
To last into Monday evening.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
