It’s ! 📸 Let’s take a trip back to 2017, when a familiar Apache Junction landmark got a major upgrade.

On October 27, 2017, the new Fry’s Marketplace at 150 E. Old West Highway officially opened its doors, replacing the smaller Fry’s Food & Drug store that had previously stood across the street.

At 124,693 square feet, the new Marketplace was much more than a bigger grocery store. Compared with a traditional Fry’s, the location brought expanded specialty food and beverage options, including sushi, a chef-inspired bistro, Murray’s Cheese, an extensive wine department, Starbucks and fresh bakery and prepared foods. It also added expanded non-food departments, a 20-pump fuel center with diesel and propane, and additional pharmacy and financial services.

The opening was a significant addition to Apache Junction, bringing new shopping, dining and everyday services to the community.

Nearly nine years later, the Fry’s Marketplace has become a familiar part of daily life in Apache Junction. It’s hard to imagine the area without it!

What do you remember about Apache Junction before the Marketplace opened?
