Celebrating Military Spouses Day today at the post. Thank you to all the supporting wives and husbands that support our troops and Veterans.

Today VFW Post 7968 & Auxiliary delivered over 100 lunches to our local Banner Goldfield Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Infusion Center, assisted living centers Avista & Brookdale and to the Apache Junction High School. We did this in appreciation as our Day of Service for National Nurses Day. We love our nurses and want to give them a little something to show our appreciation. Each nurse received a Ham or Turkey sandwich, chips, potato salad and a brownie along with a goodie bag filled with fun nurse stickers, a straw cover, bracelet and a pen with a nice thank you card. This is part of our ongoing support to our community!

This morning we started our day with the men and women of our Apache Junction Police Department for the annual Peace Officer Memorial Day. Today we as a community honor our two fallen Officers Russell Duncan and Gabriel Facio. VFW Post 7968 & Auxiliary presented a special memorial wreath to the AJ PD Department. It is always an honor to attend this memorial event.

We had another great blanket drop off to our local Genesis Project . The Auxiliary collected and donated 11 small blankets, 6 large blankets, 3 comforters, pillows and beanies and scarf bags to Genesis to hand out to the community who needs them. What a great way to show our community that we care all in the name of Arizona Auxiliary President Brenda Kinghorn's Special Project!

VFW Post 7968 Auxiliary helped our local Apache Junction Police Department with their annual Fuel of Dreams fundraiser for the Arizona Special Olympics. We were alongside the officers pumping gas, washing windows and selling raffle tickets to help with their donations. They were able to raise lots of money for this great cause. Thanks to everyone who stopped by bought gas and donated. We always have fun and can't wait to help them next year!
