Dear Community Stakeholders,
The Franklin County Democratic Executive Committee, along with other area agencies, are hosting a back to school bash for the community on Friday, August 1st, from 5:PM to 8:PM at the Holy Family Senior Center at 203 Dr. Frederick S. Humphries St. in Apalachicola , Fl. We are hoping to generate excitement for the coming school year!
Our main goal is to provide some basic back to school supplies for up to 300 Franklin County children:
100 students in high school
100 students in middle school
100 students in elementary school
We are not looking to supply all the items needed by the schools but we are hoping to give students the basic items that they need to get started on their back to school list.
But we will need your help and your donations in order to achieve our community outreach goal.
For convenience we have created a registry of back to school student supply kits at a variety of price points on Amazon. Here is the link:

If you prefer, you can also donate:
filler paper,
1-inch, 3-inch, or 5-inch binders,
packs of number two pencils,
packs of pens,
highlighters,
rulers,
packs of index cards
pencil pouches, etc.
Our plan is to have everything in place by July 28th to give us enough time to purchase the remaining items that we need.
For further information please reach out to our treasurer, Leslie at [email protected]
We plan to make this a great back to school bash and will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, and dessert on August 1st. We will need volunteers to help us with set up, serving, and clean up. Please reach out to Donna at [email protected]
We will also be asking our local area businesses for donations. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Our next public meeting will be August 14th, in Apalachicola and our September meeting will be in Carrabelle, details to come later.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Franklin County DEC Volunteers.
